Zou Zou Official Summer Style Trend: Tie-Dye

Summer is finally here and after a trendy spring season full of floral and tribal prints, we needed something new to spice up our warm weather Zou Zou wardrobes…

And we fell into retro-love with tie-dye.

Though it was a trend sported by only the most fashionably rebellious in the 1970s, tie-dye made a high-fashion comeback on the 2012 Spring/Summer runway. Michael Kors added swirls of tie-dye in strong pops of color throughout his African safari inspired collection, while Bottega Veneta incorporated it subtly in his menswear line. Designer Zera Maria Cornejo also used the bold look of tie-dye in her RTW runway show (which embraced a spring trend that we were crazy about, black and white).

It’s this evolution that makes fashion so interesting – one era’s most contentious style can be another’s most up-and-coming. In January of 1970, Time Magazine wrote in the defense of the newly emerging west-coast wardrobe of choice, “Each tie-dyed pattern is unique, an unautomated adventure in personal adornment.” And for the upcoming season, tie-dye is as chic as it is unique.

Pairing a bright tie-dye maxi dress with a pair of silver or gold sandals is a great way to bring this trend to the beach. Tie-dye can also work for a night out. A softer pastel tie-dye mini dress worn with a pair of tan wedges will make you the star of any room. That’s why we’ve chosen tie-dye as our official summer style trend: it’s as versatile and fabulous as fresh fashion gets. So if you’re ready to find only the best for your summer wardrobe, come visit us here at Zou Zou!

Here’s to the grand evolution of fashion,

Lexi Senior xoxo
