The Artist took audience and fashion lovers by storm at the beginning of 2012, and with Jean Dejardin eventually taking home the Oscar for best male lead in a film, it’s no shocker we started seeing the film’s influence and iconic dress-wear of the 1920s bleed into designer wardrobes’. It also makes for quite the fun party theme, as we saw from Harriett Lake’s 90th birthday bash this year where guests were decked out in head-to-toe ’20s frills and sparkles. But the trend isn’t just for runway or party costumes; there’s a way to rock the ’20s in 2012!

A sequined, striped mini is a great piece to have in your closet for nights where you want just a little more pizazz in your outfit. A simple black dress with feather details is another way to incorporate a little something in your wardrobe, dressed up with diamond and chain jewelry accents. And finally for the maximum wow-factor, you can never go wrong with a ruffle-bottom and sequin-top, and that perfect silver necklace to tie everything in together. The ’20s doesn’t have to be just another decade gone by; in fact it’s the perfect spring trend for glaming up that next event on your agenda, or maybe even throwing a little themed party of your own;)

Refinery 29, the fashion website dedicated to all things celeb and trendy, said they saw “an explosion of crop tops, cutoffs, and barely-there luxe-hippie garb” when they visited the festival this weekend. Sound a little intimidating to you? We thought so too. So here at Zou Zou, we found the perfect pairings to make your outfit right on trend with tribals, with a little more covering than say “cutoffs” and “hippie garb.”

High waisted shorts in a black-based print are a casual way to start incorporating the trend into your wardrobe without feeling like a head-to-toe Indian princess (although that wouldn’t be such a bad thing either, who didn’t love Pocahontas growing up?!) A tribal frock with a tie-waist is a flattering way to wear the trend, perfect for a trip to the beach over your bathing suit, or for a night out with chunky wedges and gold jewelry. Wearing the print on a strappy, flowy tank, paired with white jeans and a leather wrap bracelet, is just the right amount of flare for a date night, or even better, a night with your favorite girlfriends.

We’re taking inspiration both from the fashion world’s runway (where the trend has yet to die out,) as well as the everyday, chic girls’ closet. The Queen of the Fashion World herself, Anna Wintour, was spotted with her signature bob and shades at London Fashion Week last month in a Celine floral frock, and designers like Diane von Furstenburg, Dolce & Gabbana and even Peter Pilotte have all shaped at least 3-5 of their Spring 2012 looks around the floral craze! From big abstract hydrangeas to small detailed poppies, the floral trend allows for a pretty, feminine look, minus the gardening tools and soil. Though some dare to sport the print head to toe, you can also incorporate just a few pieces into your wardrobe for a more subtle, soft ensemble. Pair it with a light bottom, strappy sandals and beautiful gold jewelry, and you’re set for an easy and stylish look perfect for day or night. From Versace to Valentino, every hot designer shared their color story through a range of feminine and soft pastels.  This trend can be worn in so many different ways!  If you are daring wear a combination of pastels, one color on the bottom and a totally different pastel on top!  Sound crazy?  Just try it, I promise you will love how stylish and girly you look.  My personal favorite pastel combo is blush, ivory, and pale yellow with a pop of light turquoise (think belt or jewelry).  Another fun way to incorporate pastels into your everyday wardrobe is by adding a fabulous mint green handbag!  Handbags are such a simple and easy way to transform any outfit into a super stylish spring look!  Lastly, add a pop of pastel with trendy nail polish.  What girl doesn’t love lavender, mint green, and light pink nails!?

We had the pleasure of attending the 5th semi-annual Bag Ladies Brunch this past December at Luma on Park Avenue.

It’s an afternoon dedicated to fabulous fashion, yummy cocktails, lunch with an incredible group of friends, and most importantly raising money for the Make a Wish Foundation!

When you combine designer handbags (AKA Hermes Birkin, Chloe, Louis Vuitton) with an extraordinary charity… generosity just flows!!  Amazingly, the Bag Ladies Brunch raised over $30,000.  ALL of which goes toward granting children with life-threatening medical conditions their life long wish.

We can’t wait to attend the next Bag Ladies Brunch and see all of our clients there!!!
